2 Days ‘Til Cincy — Roger Federer
It’s 2 days ’til Cincy and we can still remember the experience of watching Roger Federer live and up close in 2014. There have been plenty of luminous descriptive phrases and hyperbole about The Maestro and his skill and grace, and….it’s all true.

Our most distinctive impression on this occasion was that in contrast to other players, who run or jump or slide to hit a shot, Rog unfurls. It’s like a precious scroll being drawn open, or the flutter of a giant sail in a strong gust of wind. There’s something way more poetic and ethereal about it than mere mechanical movement. And you don’t truly understand it until you see it with your own eyes.
We’ve shared a few of these photos on Twitter, and some have never yet been seen. While it’s not the same as being there, we hope it will give you just a taste of the awesomeness of seeing Rog play tennis and just strut around looking all royal and stuff.

The King greets his loyal subjects as he walks onto the court, still humble enough to carry bags that possibly weigh more than he does.
When Rog comes in there are always a few minutes of unpacking and careful towel arranging to do…
A look at sunlit curls and Vasek Pospisil’s rosy-cheeked smile….
And now the awesome tennis moves…and tummy flashes….and some other things…
We’ll let you imagine what he might be meditating on here…
There’s always a lot of gentle primping and delicate dabbing of sweat…
Hi Roger. O_O
Rog asked for new avatar suggestions on Twitter, and we’d hoped he’d use ours:
We’ll keep it for posterity here, and in case he ever decides to come to his senses and use it for his profile. 😉

Of course it’s your article on Roger that finally prompts me to comment. I’ve been reading all of your countdown to Cincy articles, but usually it’s on my coffee break at work and then I need to get back to the grind. No time to comment! Day off today so it’s all good. 🙂
Your captions are always hilarious and your photos are Wow!! You capture the action, the power and the grace of all the players, but Roger is in a class by himself.
Thank you so much for sharing your work and your humour and behind and in front of the scenes info on all of these beeeoootiful players. Very much appreciated. Have fun in Cincy!

Saw your tweet about this earlier but finally had a few minutes to sit and enjoy every morsel of this. I love but also hate you for making my thirst level instantly go on a high again ;PPP
Hahaha, you’re welcome and….I’m sorry? 😛 Rog is such a wonderful subject to work with, still so thrilled I got to capture some of these. Glad you enjoyed the Fed Fantabulousness… 🙂
