Switzerland: The 2014 Davis Cup Journey, Italy — The Angry Eyes Have It
In a continuing theme, Stan also had his Intense Eyes in that day, which we were glad of. In another continuing Davis Cup theme, Stan almost lost one of those eyes again…
Stan nearly getting smacked in the face by a kid looking for a high five…alrighty then.

After the comedy, there of course had to be…well, the usual succumbing to Stanimal Attraction.
There was understandably some tension as both players have been known to conjure a bit of umpire drama…
Pascal has such a look on his face like, “Fuuck, these two are both gonna cause me headaches, aren’t they?” LOL. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
But there was no angst for Stan as he bolted out of the gate, nabbing an early break and continually capitalizing on Fabio flails. We were a little excited by the quality of The Man’s tennis…
Oh Stan, hell of an angle on that ace.

Stan, you’re making me all tingly. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
@TennisInsideOut yeah!! i actually got a bit of a chill after he hit that BH! so pretteh!!

With a helpful DF from Fabio on set point, Stan broke for a 6-2 win in the first set. The 2nd set had Stan thumping down aces and hitting fearhands galore. And Fabio providing us with some amusement…
I think Fab has as many DFs as Stan has aces. Another BP for Stan… — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
@TennisInsideOut It doesn’t like being confined in clothes.

Fabio woke up a bit mid-set, getting a break back and challenging Stan with some tricky varying pace. But the Stanimal surged again and we were really getting quite excited now…
Oh Stan, sexy return into the corner. Just whips it. Hubba. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
Unfff. Stan on the attack, breaks to 5-3.
— Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
Sev just growled at Stan. In a good way. 😉 — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
Acerinka hit his 11th ace…Fabio challenged…but it was in! And Stan was up 2-0.
The third set continued on with lots of pretty tennis from Stan and lots of appreciative gurgling sounds from us. Seve seemed to be as enthused as we were…
Seve just smacked Stan on the ass. I’m so jealous.

Fabio was feeling the frustration…
Fabio gets a winning serve, asks the crowd for love. He gets some, and some boos. Crowd getting rowdy. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
Fabio is not happy. He would like to go home please, outdoors in the sunshine where he can take off his shirt and maybe his pants too.
— crazyfedfan (@crazyfedfan) September 12, 2014
We felt quite strongly about Stan’s uber-high level of play…
3-1 Stanley. Stan’s wife does not have quite enough of a look of lust in her eyes. She doesn’t deserve him…lol. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
Fabio did his best, but having an off day, he was no match for the Stanimal. The Swiss player clinched the victory with booming serves and a 6-3 win in the 3rd.
That was a great win, Stan. And did I detect a hint of swagger afterward? pic.twitter.com/NddV3VYb9G

Judging from the pic above, yes…yes you did. #Swag
Teeniest bit of French melancholy in the 2nd set but overall a nicely relaxed yet powerful, thoughtful performance from Stanley. — Tennis Inside Out (@TennisInsideOut) September 12, 2014
The Swiss team was happy as #Fedrinka had them up 2-0 on the first day. Roger showed up in time for the hugs, all sneaky like “Oh yes, Stan, I’ve been here the whole time.”
*ahem*
