Who Is Borna Coric?
TENNISINSIDEOUT.COM PLAYER PROFILE
Name: Borna Coric
Known in Tennis Fandom As: “Porna Coric”, thanks to his rather breathily suggestive grunt and one particular MTO that sounded incredibly X-rated.
Val has named him: “Baby Borna butt”, which is usually shortened to “Baby Borna”. Is gradually being upgraded to “Borna babe.”

In a nutshell: Borna Coric is a ridiculously attractive player with a perfectly balanced physique and muscular thighs that may inspire impure thoughts in susceptible fans. He’s an excellent mover, a “do-or-die” fighter, and an incredibly tactical player whose crafty repertoire of differing paces and angles and spin are often underestimated by those who wrote him off early as a one-note defensive player. A natural lefty who plays right-handed, Coric excels more with power and control on the backhand side, but continuing improvements to his forehand and serve have greatly increased the range of his game and it’s really borne fruit in 2018.
Baby Borna made quite an impression as a teenager, moving up more than 200 spots in 2014 to break into the Top 100–one month shy of his 18th birthday. His stellar work ethic and skill, which contributed to an early career win over then-World-number-3 Rafael Nadal, landed Borna an ATP “Star of Tomorrow” award at the end-of-year festivities at the O2 Arena.
The lithe Croatian worked steadily on the smaller goals that would hopefully lead to one of his biggest — breaking into the Top 10. After beating Nadal again at the Cincinnati Masters event in August 2016, however, Coric suffered a knee injury that required surgery and months off the tour. Working his way back up the rankings took some time, but beating Roger Federer for the title in Halle, reaching a semifinal in Indian Wells, and the final in Shanghai this year has helped him rise up to #12 in the rankings (he briefly reached #11 in the live rankings, but Karen Khachanov slipped past after winning his first Masters title in Paris). Coric still has a small chance to head to the ATP finals in London as an alternate.
