Ernests Gulbis and Cedric Mourier: The Great, and Somehow Suggestive, Water Debate
Ernests Gulbis is well known for his humorous, sometimes snarky interviews, but he also wins points for his banter with umpires. At the Paris Masters this week, Ernie’s amusing exchange with ump Cedric Mourier took an interesting turn. At 6-5 in the first set against Fernando Verdasco, Ernie was apparently looking for some room temperature water instead of the cold stuff.
“Can somebody bring it?” Ernests asks.
“It’s on the way,” Cedric tells a disbelieving Ernie.
“On the way for half a set,” Ernie grumbles. #JustSayin
“I asked two games ago,” Cedric clarifies.
“If you shake it quickly, then it’s getting, um, less cold,” Cedric offers.
Ernie grins. “If I hold it in my mouth it gets less cold. What other tips you giving me? I can sit on it.”
Does anyone else feel like this conversation is suddenly one huge double entendre?
The water arrives. “Here it is, Ernests” Cedric says. “There’s a big one…a luxury.”

“One more towel, please?”
