Perhaps it was a sign that day that Tim Smyczek was still tying his shorts when he got to the coin toss.
Denis Kudla and Tim Smyczek played a quarterfinal match of tennis limbo, as in “how low can you go.” Their shots were hard and fast, just skimming over the net and skidding across the court. It was exhilarating stuff to witness.
