15 Days ‘Til Cincy — Garbiñe Muguruza
It’s 15 days ’til Cincy and we’re excited to share more photos from the early rounds of last year’s tournament. When fans have only a few days to spend at the Western & Southern Open, they’re often tempted to book the final weekend. The beauty of visiting Cincy at the start of the tournament is the overwhelming wealth of tennis action available.

On this day in particular, over on the infamous court behind the loo, fans could catch Garbiñe Muguruza. Though somewhat unobtrusively ranked at #27, the Spanish player had recently made waves by beating Serena Williams in the 2nd round of the French Open.
Fans got a peek at her powerful, aggressive game in this tough three-setter against Annika Beck. The added bonus was watching a player who would continue to improve, make the finals at Wimbledon in 2015, and launch to a current ranking of #9. That’s the fun of early rounds at Cincy. Someone relatively (or completely) unknown on an outer court, who piqued your interest with a barrage of winners and explosive serve, could be next year’s superstar.
