Switzerland: The 2014 Davis Cup Journey, Italy — The Angry Eyes Have It

There’s more and more to share about the Swiss Davis Cup ties as we move along. Excitement was building with each match won, a total victory for Switzerland drawing ever closer. After what had become known as the Clusterfuck in Kazakhstan, no one wanted to underestimate Italy. Fans desperately hoped for less angst and drama this time around.

Despite some possible lingering disappointment in losing out at the US Open to eventual champion Cilic, Roger Federer was feeling good about the Davis Cup semifinals.

Federer joked that the most important thing is that captain Severin Luthi is ready for the weekend because he’ll be on court for 5 matches.

Once again, the Swiss team dove enthusiastically into practice…

As Joe points out, it seemed a few Swiss fans were excited about seeing the Maestro and Stanimal even before it was match time….#understatement

The Swiss were enjoying the lead-up to the matches, and the #Fedrinka bromance was still in full bloom.

Stan and Seve had a bit of a comedy thing going on…

Fabio wanted some attention for Italy so he bared some flesh and trolled the Swiss team…like he does…

Fabio Fognini just randomly screamed “chum jetze” during practice. A few moments later he (jokingly) threw his racket. The show is on.

Right after this pic, Stan playfully pinched Fabio in the back, shocking the Italian. Or maybe it wasn’t so playful. Either way, the Swiss showed they know how to troll the competition, too. It was SO ON.
